Our Darjeeling Tour
We visited Darjeeling following the initial COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. I considered converting the recollection into an illustrated journal. Finished it yesterday.

Sketched based on a photo
Sketched based on a photo I took at Ghum, Darjeeling. After a long time, I sketched on A4-sized paper, though minor trimming was required to accommodate the binding. I find the subtle variations in color, achieved through the combination of Noodler’s Black and Parker’s Black inks, particularly appealing. The wash effect was applied using diluted printing ink.

Day before Gajan
I carried my sketchbook instead of a camera, planning to capture moments on paper. The crowd made it impossible to sketch, so I quietly took a few photos with my smartphone.

I brought my sketchbook along today
I brought my sketchbook along today and created it this time. Even if my four rapid sketches were not flawless, I am glad to have them in my sketchbook as memories. It was really static today, so it was very easy to sketch, though at first I was hesitant because I still did not feel very comfortable drawing by myself on the street. However, I realize that nobody cared about it; in fact, people accept it far more than taking pictures. To increase my confidence, I need to get out and draw more and more.

The Lady at babughat
This sketch was derived from a photograph I captured earlier this year at the Babughat Transit Camp. As the camp was drawing to a close, it is likely that the woman was preparing to return to her home.
Sketching with a fine nib
I thought I would revisit my fine-nib fountain pen to make sketches like Micron. Though I like the broad strokes, it’s fun to use old tools. It was putted with regular Parker Quink ink, as my wife uses the pen now.

Village Corner
Sketch from a photo I took at Sittong. Wash using Havana Brown and Olive Brown fountain pen ink. Although they are not waterproof, they are fun to use.
